N&W claims Energy Grants for clients

Energy Grants ImageNavarro & Wright is helping local municipal clients apply for much needed energy grant money as part of the federal funding that Pennsylvania will receive under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act's State Energy Program.

PA Conservation Works! is a new grant program for local government and non-profit entities seeking to conserve or reduce energy use and will provide up to $250,000 for individual projects and $500,000 for joint projects designed to increase energy efficiency, reduce energy consumption and reduce energy costs by at least 25 percent. It is a competitive grant program and is open to Pennsylvania boroughs, townships and cities with fewer than 35,000 residents and counties with fewer than 200,000 residents. Renewable energy projects will also be eligible if they replace at least 25 percent of a building's or entity's energy use.

Green Energy Works! will fund combined heat and power projects, which generate power and thermal energy from a single source. The program will eventually provide a total of $52 million to Pennsylvania for projects to help increase energy efficiency, reduce reliance on foreign energy sources, improve service reliability, and reduce the impact of energy production on the environment. It will also fund future solar, wind and biogas projects.

Navarro & Wright is working with the Borough of Steelton for Pa Conservation Works! funding on an energy saving project to construct energy saving improvements at the water filtration plant including the pumping facility and lighting.  The firm is also working with other municipal clients to help prepare for these new energy grants.
