Navarro & Wright is Civil Engineer for Green Building Award Project

Navarro & Wright Consulting Engineers, Inc is proud to have been the Civil Engineer of Record for the Pequea Valley School District building project of Paradise Elementary School which earned the Green Building Association of Central Pennsylvania’s 2009 Design Award competition.  Built on the 17-acre site of the existing elementary school, Pequea Valley School District sought to build a school that conserved land resources, optimized energy performance, reduced energy consumption and costs, reduced water consumption, lessened storm water impact, and supported the regional economy by utilizing regional materials and resources. The school is LEED® registered and is seeking to obtain LEED Gold Certification.  EI Associates was the Architect for the project.

Navarro & Wright prepared a Preliminary/Final Land Development Plan package in accordance with the Paradise Township Subdivision and Land Development Ordinances.  The package included plans of the existing site, proposed layout, grading and stormwater management, and erosion and sedimentation control.

Navarro & Wright incorporated several LEED design elements into the site design including vegetated channels with infiltration trenches, retentive grading to promote infiltration and capturing roof runoff for water reuse.  Navarro & Wright submitted to Paradise Township and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection a request for planning exemption from the sewage facilities planning module process, as well as a consultation of construction costs for public improvements and stormwater facilities.
