| Brian Beckfield talks with students |
Brian S. Beckfield, Professional Geologist, recently participated in Schuylkill County’s ACHIEVE, Mission: Possible program which offers extra learning opportunities for Schuylkill ACHIEVE students in their after school program. The program includes hands-on, interactive lessons, expert guests, literacy incentives and field trips, exposing students to unique learning experiences.
Brian shared how to become a professional geologist, who they work for, and what tools are required to do the job. Consistent with the Mission Possible program, Brian’s lesson plan included a discussion of the physical and chemical properties of soil and rock, how the study of the earth is important in everyone’s daily life, and the responsibilities that professionals have to serve their communities.
