A ribbon cutting ceremony was held last week for the completion of the new Carbon County Bridge #16, T-447/Koch Road over the Pohopoco Creek. N&W provided the construction inspection for the project. N&W’s services were headed by Michael Parker, Transportation Construction Manager, who coordinated all documentation, construction progress meetings and materials certification review. The project was administered by the Carbon County Commissioners with PennDOT oversight and funded through FHWA. The existing bridge was a reinforced concrete arch built in 1916. The new replacement is an eight section precast concrete arch culvert with a span of sixty feet. This is the longest precast arch span currently in Pennsylvania, which generated a great deal of interest by the PennDOT Bridge Division. County and State officials were very pleased with the completed project.
