This design/build bridge replacement project consisted of the design of a twospan, pre-stressed concrete spread box beam bridge. The bridge carrying SR 1054 over Indian Creek was built using half width construction and has two 60’-0” spans. The beam spacing and bridge width were revised to eliminate the need for a temporary support of the existing structure during half-width construction, allowing the contractor to save time and money. The bridge design components included 48” x 27” deep spread box beams, elastomeric bearings, concrete cantilever abutments on pile foundations, and a solid shaft pier supported by a pile foundation.
