Murray Towers, originally constructed in the late 1960s, is an 8-story public housing complex owned by the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh, and features 67 units for low-income seniors. This project involved the visual assessment of the exterior precast concrete spandrel panels for locations of distress including cracking, spalling, delamination and holes. The structural engineers used a rented lift to be able to accurately gauge and document the damage for all of the concrete panels.
The following services were provided for the project:
- Visual assessment of building exterior.
- Report documenting existing conditions.
- Development of construction documents.
- Cost estimates for repairs.
