N&W is expanding its cultural resource services by establishing a new Archaeological Materials Laboratory. The lab, housed in the firm’s corporate office in New Cumberland, PA, will prepare archaeological collections for curation at the Pennsylvania State Museum and other accredited repositories. The work involves cleaning, labeling, and cataloging artifacts discovered as a result of work performed by the company for its clients.
Archaeologist Alan D. Beauregard, N&W’s Cultural Resources Team Leader, states, “The new lab complements the cultural resources services the company already offers its clients. In fact, all of our cultural resources personnel are actively involved in historical societies, professional associations and personal research projects, noting that among his colleagues, archaeology is as much a passion as it is a job.”
Paul J. Navarro, P.E., President and CEO added, “The new lab is a step forward in the development of our Cultural resources program. It allows us to offer a more complete range of archaeology services to our clients as we move from smaller Phase I surveys to larger site examination and impact mitigation projects. With archaeologists Richard A. Geidel and Timothy A. Carn spearheading the operation, it will be led by highly qualified and experienced professionals.” Both Mr. Geidel and Mr. Carn are Registered Professional Archaeologists.
